Agios Ioannis or Ai-Giannis, is a well known fabulous beach with a unique combination of pine trees, turquoise sea waters and the wind.
Agios Ioannis lays to the west of the city and is off just 1.5 kilometers. This is where most of the locals swim in the summer. The turquoise colours of the waters in combination with the green of the mountain makes this place magical.
What is available
A beautiful beach that is the continuation of the Castle and Gira beach (which is 7 kilometers in length!), hotels, Rooms for rent, Restaurants, Traditional Ouzo bars, Coffee shops, Bars etc.
Where to stay
On both the main road and the narrow side street that leads to the village of Frini, visitors will find Hotels and rooms or Apartments for rent surrounded by the wonderful green of olive and pine trees. It is best to book in advance especially in August as it is exceptionally busy at that time and hard to find accommodation anywhere on the island.
Where to go
For visitors who want to leave the beach for an afternoon stroll, we suggest the coastal (center) road which leads to the church of Agios Giannis and one of the few roads that run through the olive groves. For those who are seeking for more crowded place, the town is off just 1,5 kilometers.
What visitors will see:
The small church of Agios Giannis and the windmills.
What to eat
At Agios Ioannis, visitors will find a variety of dishes to suit all palates in the beach restaurants.
Other
There is a Lifeguard on the beach during the summer months. Kite-surfers and surfers from around the world come here to enjoy the afternoon winds which can be quite strong.
