Deputy Minister Mr. Nikitiadis while in Moscow had discussions on issues related to the development of tourism through the facilitation of visa procedures. For that reason Mr. Nikitiadis met with representatives from the Visa Center,who assured him that Russians are keen on visiting Greece and noted that they consider to be positive all actions aiming to simplify the process of visa issuing.

General Panhellenic Association of Tourism Enterprises protest because, the industry of tourism offices, tour buses and yachts without crew are once again provocatively excluded from government supportive measures related to tourism industry. Not only are they excluded from VAT reduction at 6.5% but also they are not supported by the government so as to ensure the viability of their business by being financed for the insurance contributions of seasonal working people, tour guides, and drivers of tourist buses. As a result, the future of tourism enterprises and their workers is uncertain.

Global tourism industry grew more than expected

World Travel and Tourism industry grew more in 2010 than expected, which as World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) foresees it will not be in favour of 2011. The final increase in the global tourism economy is expected to be 2% until the end of the year, creating 946,000 jobs worldwide announced the WTTC in the World Travel Market report. This development forced WTTC to lower forecasts for growth in 2011 from 3.2% to 2.7%.
Greece has the most beautiful islands

The visitors of the holiday web site Zoover.com, voted Greek islands as the most beautiful in Europe. More specific, of the 14.000 visitors who responded to the online survey, 44% said that, they were impressed by Greek islands. Spain came second with 17% and Croatia third with 16%.
